The staff of the Faculty of Human Geography and Planning will carry out a new project ‘Services provided by the main types of ecosystems in Poland—an applied approach’. It is financed by the Norway Grants as part of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, which is co-ordinated by the Ministry of Climate. This is one of the three pre-defined projects—agreed between the parties at the stage of Programme negotiations, supervised by Dr hab., Małgorzata Stępniewska, AMU Prof., (Department of Integrated Geography).

The project aims to transfer the general and detailed scientific knowledge of ecosystem services existing in Europe to the MAES process (Mapping and Assessment of Ecosystems and their Services) in Poland. What is needed here is the integration of developed scientific knowledge with interests and competences of officials, and also skills of experts participating in the environment management procedures.
